Cold Stone

HISTORICAL FICTION ENTRY

When liberty station was NTC, Cold Stone was a laundry matt. It’s likely that in the laundry matt they didn’t have washing machines. I can imagine the sailors having to scrub their clothes on a bumpy piece of metal. I can imagine them bringing in their bags full of dirty clothes. When they were done scrubbing their cloths, they would probably have to hang their wet clothes up on a big laundry line. Each piece of clothing had to be 1 or 2 finger spaces away from each other. I can imagine the Navy sailors hanging their clothes perfectly 1 or 2 fingers away, but, they didn’t have clothespins. Instead, they had to tie their pieces of clothing up in a special way. I can’t believe they didn’t have clothespins for the sailors to use! It must have been hard for the Navy sailors to keep their clothes and uniforms clean back in the NTC days.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Cold Stone is a great place to visit. It helps our community by making people happy because little kids and adults really love ice cream. They sell other things too. For example, they have milk shakes and cakes. When I was there I saw some cakes in the freezer. Some had Kit Kats, Oreos, or strawberries on them. Some of the topping for the ice cream were pretzels, chocolate chip, and white chocolate chip. Some of the syrups were, caramel, strawberry, and chocolate. At lunch highschoolers can walk over and get ice cream. You should definitely go to Cold Stone.

INTERVIEW (present day worker)

We interviewed two people, Mr. A.J. and Ms. Cindy from Cold Stone. Mr. A.J. and Ms. Cindy come open up the store early in the morning. Then they prepare the toppings. Next, Ms. Cindy goes to the back and makes ice cream in the hopper. Their most busiest day at Cold Stone is on Sundays. They have different flavors of ice cream. They use a bag of cream to make the ice cream. One bag of cream weighs two and a half pounds! They can put different flavors in the cream to make ice cream, like cotton candy or chocolate. Ms. Cindy let us feel how cold the freezer was. The freezer has to be super cold so that the ice cream won’t melt. Mr. A.J. and Ms. Cindy work hard at Cold Stone to make it a  great place to go.
