HISTORICAL FICTION ENTRY

Ace Hardware used to be a movie theater and a bowling alley. I can imagine a group of recruits taking a break to form a bowling team. When the recruits get to the bowling alley they have to put on strong tennis shoes so that it doesn’t hurt if they drop the ball on their feet. They are also sticky on the bottom so that they don’t slip. Once the pins are set up, the bowling begins. The recruits feel relaxed when they take a break from work to go to the bowling alley. After a break from work the recruits are ready to start work again.

Long ago, Ace Hardware was a movie theater for recruits to go have fun. They might have played old movies like Space Jam. I can imagine that a recruit was so exhausted that he wanted to go to the movie theater.  He would want to bring a friend with him, watch a movie and have fun. He might want to have a snack, like popcorn or candy. I bet they had fun watching the movie. I am happy they had places to relax like the movie theater, because their work was so tiring.

Ace Hardware is a place were you can get drought tolerant plants and tools that can fix your house. Drought tolerant plants help the community because they have a little bit of watering every day. Ace Hardware also helps the community because they have power tools. The tools and power tools can fix houses and make things. Ace Hardware is where you can get stuff you need to make your home a happier home.

INTERVIEW (present day worker)

Ms. Shelby is the General Manager of Ace Hardware. She helps set the time schedule for Ace Hardware. Ms. Shelby orders important things for for the store. She tells the workers how to do some things. Ms. Shelby orders drought tolerant plants for people to buy at Ace Hardware so that people don`t have to use as much water. I think Mrs. Shelby`s jobs are important to Ace Hardware because she keeps the store organized and a nice place to shop.

Have you ever heard of a place called Ace Hardware? Well, Ace Hardware can help kids. Let’s say someone wanted to build something. They sell materials like wood. Wood can help by making a little dog house. There’s also materials like paint or tools. If you need to paint a house you can go to Ace Hardware. It has tons of choices. Also, there are toys and there are puzzles. If there’s a little bird in your backyard you can go to Ace Hardware because it has bird houses too. Ace Hardware is for kids because kid can play with toys and they can get materials to make things.
