Point Loma Children's Dentistry

HISTORICAL FICTION ENTRY

In 1920 when Liberty Station was NTC, the Point Loma Children’s Dentistry that is on Truxtun Road used to be the barracks. I can imagine a recruit sleeping and then waking up at 5:30 a.m. Another recruit or commander was using a trombone to wake them up. When the recruit woke up he felt all tired and dizzy. He put on his clothes, has breakfast and starts training. The barracks were where the beds were for the navy recruits so that they could sleep. They would also rest from training, running, jumping over obstacles and other things too. At the end of the day, the recruits would feel strong and be ready for the next day.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Today the Point Loma Children’s Dentistry helps the community by checking the kids teeth on the X-ray camera. They also help by cleaning kids teeth and filling the kids teeth in if they have cavities or sugar bugs (that means germs in your teeth). Inside, it looks so cool. They have a TV and chairs and they also have iPads, so you can play on them. It also looks like a ocean inside. The Point Loma Children’s Dentistry helps a lot and they do important stuff. For example, they have to study for 20 years just to help all of the children have nice, fresh and clean teeth. They also have a tube straw that they put in your mouth and it sucks all the dirty stuff out of your teeth. That’s why kids go to the Point Loma Children’s Dentistry!

INTERVIEW (present day worker)

When we went to visit Point Loma Children’s Dentistry we met three people, Ms. Mia, Ms. Alyssa and Dr. Nora. Ms. Mia helps people when they walk in. She greets them and most of the time she works at the front desk. Next, there’s  Ms. Alyssa. She helps clean the back and is an assistant that helps Dr. Nora take pictures of kids teeth and sets things up for Dr. Nora. Last but not least, Dr. Nora cleans kids teeth and fills them in. After she is done, she cleans up the mess she made. After she is done cleaning, she waits for a new customer. These three people work hard to make Point Loma Children’s Dentistry a good place to go.

KID CONNECTION

Kids can connect to the Point Loma Children’s Dentistry. If kids are scared to go to the dentist because they think it hurts, the Point Loma Children’s Dentistry has stuffed anythings and has some TVs on the ceiling. Stuffed anythings and TVs can help calm kids down because their favorite movie might be on or the stuffed anything they always wanted to hold is there. The kids that might think it hurts might notice it is actually comfortable there. It is important for kids to go to the dentistry because if you have a cavity, Dr. Nora puts a metal tooth there and you might get a free toothbrush! I hope we meet again at the Point Loma Children’s Dentistry!
